Sweden’s Thomas Nilsson (on a Robardie-BM) carries off the World Championship owing to a double victory in the last event, which is held at Hoddesdon (GBR). In the final classification, he is ahead of Giulio Pernigotti (ITA), who had nonetheless dominated the first two events at Vevey (CHE) and Jesolo (ITA). Curiously and unusually enough, it is so hot in Jesolo that the asphalt deteriorates as the karts pass upon it, and the course of the track must be modified during the event! For two points, Germany beats Italy in the European Nations’ Championship, which is staged at Nüremberg (DEU), Kristianstad (SWE) and Villacoublay (FRA). Ute Teichmann (DEU) completes the German success by winning the CIK Ladies’ European Cup.
