1990

The 135cc engines are abandoned in Formula K and replaced by 100cc ones. In this category, Jan Magnussen (DNK) carries off the supreme title at Jesolo (ITA) after a dramatic turn of events in the penultimate lap: while in the lead, Gianantonio Pacchioni (ITA) is bumped into by a lapped Driver and retires… In Formula A, former Juniors create a sensation, in particular Danilo Rossi (ITA) who prevails in the final, and Giancarlo Fisichella (ITA) who finishes second but then learns that he is disqualified for having received outside help from his Mechanic on the starting grid. At Laval (FRA), Alessandro Piccini (ITA) wins the World Championship for 125cc gearbox karts (Formula C), while Walter Van Lent (NLD) is crowned European Intercontinental C Champion. Although qualified thanks to the second chance heat, Bas Leinders (BEL) makes a spectacular recovery and, in the rain, lands the European Juniors title at Le Mans (FRA). He subsequently leads the final of the World Cup for Juniors but a puncture stops his momentum and Jérémie Dufour (FRA) takes the win.
